Post subject:  PAL X config file

I Live in the Netherlands and have some problems with my TV-Out. I've got an NVidia card and TV-Out works but the picture isn't very nice. The edges are all distorted in a way. Even in the startscreen of KnoppMyth. Can anyone tell me wich settings to use in my config of X to get a nice picture?

In a normal device, such as a VCR, they normally use a thing called Overscan which forces the edges of the picture off of the edges, so cutting off the raggedy edges. Also if you are using a CRT TV, you may run into problems with regulation and linearity.
If you have used the sample tvout xorg.conf file that is in /etc/X11 for your setup, there should be an entry for overscan, inreasing this increases the overscan. You may be able to change this by using the nvidia-settings program.

What type of cables do you use to connect to the tv?

I'm using S-Video currently, but I have used Composite Video. Of course, you need to change the video format from NTSC to PAL in the sample file.

A while back, I tried using RGB from the VGA connector, but I couldn't get a modeline that worked, I don't know if the circuit I was using was OK.
