Post subject:  Scheduling weirdness with multiple tuners

I have a dual PVR-250 setup. I have a few programs scheduled to 'every time it is on this channel' If program A and program B are both on at 8pm on Monday and never again then Myth will use both tuners and record the shows

However, if A and B are both on at 8pm but B is also on at 1am on Tuesday then it will not record B until the later date? Sometimes this causes a prime time show to not be recorded until several days later

It would be better if Myth recorded all shows as soon as possible. If I then scheduled program C for 8pm then waiting to record B until later is perfectly acceptable.

I guess the system wants to optimize the tuners and leave one available for future recordings, live TV etc. Is there a way to force Myth to record B as soon as possible instead of waiting?

Thanks,
-S

Please check the MythTV archive, there has been some discussion about this on there.

basically there are some serious problems with the scheduler. I for one can't stand that if you have only one show setup and you are watching livetv it makes you exit because it want your tuner instead of just moving to the next available tuner. Now I don't know what all is changing, and how they are going to handle everything, but from the talk on the mailing list the scheduler is getting completely redesigned for 0.15 and will be the biggest change. However to get a hint at that now you would have to go to CVS. I personally am anticipating the changes, but I'll wait for the release.

I'm with you Xsecrets. Suprisingly, that's one 'feature' that my wife doesn't mind. She just pops out of the new recording and back into live tv. After all the grumbling I heard while switching us from Tivo to Myth, I thought I'd hear more flak over that when I added the second PVR. I guess she's just happy she doesn't need to watch the show I'm recording. ;)

Do any of you know how stable current CVS is? I dont mind experimenting a little, but if things are very unstable I will wait a bit...
