Post subject:  Music Screensavers

During music play, random screensavers come up. Does anyone know where they are located?

Some are rather ugly, and I would like to get rid of some of them.

It is in the setup under media/music (I think it is called visualizations). You can disable it and the myth music menu stays on the screen. However, this has a risk of screen burn in.

What I've done instead is to delete all the visualizations in the same setup window, but leave it enabled. This has the affect of blanking the screen after the timeout.

goom is the pretty one. I have it set as the only visulization. You can set this in one of the music setup screens. You will have to type in goom in a text box. I believe you can specify multiple visulizations with commas but, goom is all I need.

... worth considering the oscilloscope too for variety... :). I find it kind of compulsive watching the notes and their harmonics.

Now, if only MythMusic wasn't so... er... awkward to use. If only I had time to try to contribute. I'm trying to set up the Slimserver client SoftSqueeze, but haven't done that yet, and there would be no visualizations, afaik. - Or can the visualizations be run off the sound no matter what the source?

Thanks for the replies. But I think I was misunderstood.

I don't want them to be turned off, I want to get rid of the ugly ones. But I need to know what directory they are located.

To get rid of the ones you don't like, you just have to go to the music setup screen and enter the list of the ones you do like - i.e. (apologies if I misremember, differences should be obvious):

Utilities/Setup -> Setup -> Media Settings -> Audio Settings -> Player Settings

And you get an option to enter a space-separated set of values - it's well explained on the setup page.

I don't know what directory they're in, but I assume if you do the above, you won't need to delete them.
