Post subject:  KnoppMyth R5E50 CD-frontend
My combined front/backed is working like a charm, and I've routed the signal to my house's antannae cable. The problem is that ifI want to watch Galactica and my wife wants to watch an interior decoration show, we'll both watch the interior decoration show, since there's only one "channel" which is visible in every tv set in our house.

A simple solution would obviously be to use a second machine and a fron-end in that. I tried running the front-end from the R5E50 CD, but I couldn't connect to the master backend's database no matter what I did!

Could someone give me some advice, please? Some data below:

- MySQL privileges are set to "GRANT ALL ON mythconverg.* TO mythtv@"%" IDENTIFIED BY 'mythtv'"
- Every computer is on DHCP
- No firewall on master mackend
- Both computers are connected to the ADSL router, no harware firewall enabled
- I can connect to the mythconverg-database form my Windows machine and manipulate it using SQLyog on the same laptop I'm trying the live-CD frontend.
- I'm using the default port on MySQL (3306)

Any help woul donce again be grately appreciated...

Why not look into using nfsroot..

Greg's Script works well :D

Also by default Mysql is only open to 127.0.0.1

You need to edit /etc/mysql/my.cnf
