I have a script to transfer my photos from my camera to my Myth box, and I thought that hey, I could share them in web while I'm at it. I installed imagemagic and Qdig, the photo gallery and it works perfectly!

The problem is that I can't secure my Qdig folder with .htaccess. I've spent about ten hours trying to do that, and I'm pretty sure it's impossible. Does anyone ahve any ideas?

My Qdig folder is at the same level as mythweb folder (/var/www/qdig), and the permissions match mythweb. I've tried copying the mythweb .htaccess, creating one from scratch but nothing works. Mythweb asks nicely for a password, Qdig doesn't.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What version of Knoppmyth are you using?

Code:
cat /etc/KnoppMyth-version

R5E50 uses htdigest no longer htaccess.

I don't know Apache that well but the config is stored in /etc/htdigest

R5E50. I've tried htdigest too, but couldn't get it working.

Actually the problem is now solved. I tried to search for httpd.conf, but the only one I found was empty, so it wasnt the correct one.

However, there was a file /etc/apache2/sites-available/mythwebdir, which had the settings for mythweb (AllowOverride). I simply added another Direcory-directive to it, and I got the other folder secures as well.

I did the samething on my mythbox a while back. I installed coppermine (photo gallery) and WebCalendar.

While I use both apps quite a bit, installing them on my mythbox has caused me avoid upgrading myth as there is not easy way to upgrade myth (via knoppmyth) while maintaining dependancies for other apps.

I the past month I have setup a separate apache server on a PC I ebay'ed for $25. Coppermine and WebCalendar have been migrated over tot he new box there leaving my myth box as myth-only.

As soon as the TV season ends, a fresh install on the Mythbox with lastest code will occur.
