Post subject: | [SOLVED] schedule recordings - no longer possible |
Hi there I decided to upgrade from R5D1 to R5E50 some days ago (yes, before Cecil released R5F1) and almost everything went fine. Then, all of a sudden, I was no longer able to schedule recordings. It worked fine after upgrade but now it looks like my requests to schedule a recording do not make their way to the database any longer. What is even worse: my schedules already saved in the database also kind of vanished; they are still there but neither mythweb nor the frontends do show the entries. Planning recordings from mythweb has no effect at all; it resists in saying "not recorded" for all kinds of schedules (i.e. daily, weekly, only once...) and for whatever option I chose. From the FE sitting on the same machine as the MBE, I am able to go through all the settings, but when I try to save them, it looks like everything is ok, however, the recording table is not updated. When checking the database, I realized that inspite of thinking it worked no change has been done. From the FE sitting in the living room, I did not yet try to schedule recordings; I have issues getting LiveTV at all... different story. Any ideas where to start looking for possible reasons? Thanks Mike |

Check to see if the mythbackend is running. Some people had problems with the backend randomly stopping with R5E50. When this happened on my system, the scheduled recordings would disappear. Check out this thread for the backend babysitter script. |

Found the solution as a "side effect" from another problem I encountered... After excessive Google-sessions, I gave a try to "delete card definitions and redefine in mythtv-setup", which finally worked. Something screwed my cardinputs, so when the MBE tried to assign cards and inputs to my schedules, it failed. That also prevented my new FE from watching LiveTV: that FE was requesting a card/card-input-combo from the MBE, which in turn could not resolve the request and forced the FE to quit... However, it works now, and deleting the card def's and redefining them is not really a big issue, so I'd recommend to think about that option whenever running into similar issues. BTW: Thanks for the reminder to check out the babysitter script. I already realized that my upgrade to E50 resulted in some strange "backend decided to vanish"-issues and resulting complaints from the kitchen... ![]() |
