hi,
am looking at astra 19.2 east with knoppmyth installed.
on this sat a channel has changed its data (Dmax)..
i had to do a scan with my hardware sat receiver and got the new position of Dmax.
to be able to record it with my Knoppmythbox (without the above receiver, KM-box connected to the lnb (dvb-s car inside), as Knoppmyth/Mythtv will not see Dmax on the old position any more, i will have to change this data in the channel.conf.
is this possible (e.g. in using Mythweb) WITHOUT doing a full scan???
thanks,
rob

quite a response...
as some channels on the astra19.2east satellite had changed their data, and i wanted to receive these further, i had to do a new full channel scan...
it was working well, BUT:
before this i had edited the channel list (using Mythweb) to remove unwanted channels (the most): a very tedious job...
after the rescan all those removed channels are back in the list again (doesn't surprise me)....
so the same unpleasant editing has to be done each time a wanted channel changes its position on the satellite...
i was thinking: 'there should be a method or a trick to shortcut this', as the computer was an invention to take workload FROM me, not killing me with 'machinejobs (the editing)'..
anyone aware of the method or trick???
when there is none, i suggest a better method of updating the channel list should be implemented in mythtv......
( just a suggestion for free )
i expect not being the only one with the 'update problem', so i would like to hear from other sufferers...

Hi,
I take a full scan in mythtv-setup (ASTRA 19,2), and than check the database "SELECT * FROM channel" with mysql frontend tool, please look at the changes, perhaps this can fix your problem:
Code: chanid channum name mplexid serviceid 1515 915 ProSieben_alt 33 898 18501 15 ProSieben 113 17501 1520 920 KABEL1_alt 33 899 18502 20 kabel eins 113 17502 1527 928 N24_alt 33 47 18503 28 N24 113 17503 1519 919 SAT.1_alt 33 46 18500 19 SAT.1 113 17500 1897 997 9Live_alt 33 897 18504 17504 9Live 113 17504

I'm not sure how the channel scan works with the satellite channels, but I know that with cable channels you can scan one frequency at a time. When I was setting up my QAM tuner I ran into a bunch of encrypted channels that I didn't want to scan so I made notes of what channels were good and their frequency. Once you know the frequency, you select the transport scan option when scanning channels. So instead of scanning all the channels, it just scans the frequency you selected. This saved me a bunch of time since I only had a few channels that needed scanned. This is an option in Mythtv-setup so I don't think you can do it through mythweb.

## thanks a lot for your answer.
neutron68 found a way to scan satellite channels in a dvb-s setup,
http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=DVBHowTo
look for: 'dvb in the usa'
the method he described was the only one working for me, the scan as presented in the mythtv-setup does not work for dvb-s cards....

## are you working with a dvb-s card in your computer?
(i don't think so, but am unsure).

Sorry for confusion in my answer, i think you live in germany or europe. We have same transponder changes with 5 sat-station "prosieben, kabel eins, N24, SAT.1 and 9Live".
This station move to a new transponder location 107.
(Astra (1 G, 19,2° Est,Transponder 107 ,frequence: 12.544 MHZ or 12.545 MHz, polarisation: h, symbolrate 22.000 MSym/s Coderate (FEC): 5/6)
I have a master server with TT-Budget/S-1500 PCI (receiver saa7146,ST STV0299 DVB-S) and a diskless frontend.
I think - but not try , you can change the channels with a database tool - if only the transponder is changed. For new stations the right way is the wiki ..

I read the wiki :
Quote: I went back to a command line (CTRL-ALT-F1). I was still logged in so I typed scan -a 0 /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-s/AMC3 > /home/mythtv/channels.conf The "-a 0" denotes device 0, since my DVB card was device 0. Now, you need to go back into the Mythtv setup, by using the ALT-F7 keys and then ALT-S keys.
at this point you can take the nano editor and cut out ALL not used channels and then "Import channels.conf" - edit the channels.conf
before import the file with all stations.
For germany the change to transponder 107 in channels.conf is
Code: SAT.1:12544:h:0:22000:255:256:17500 SAT.1_alt:12480:v:0:27500:1791:1792:46 ProSieben:12544:h:0:22000:511:512:17501 ProSieben_alt:12480:v:0:27500:255:256:898 kabel eins:12544:h:0:22000:767:768:17502 KABEL1_alt:12480:v:0:27500:511:512:899 N24:12544:h:0:22000:1023:1024:17503 N24_alt:12480:v:0:27500:2047:2048:47 9Live:12544:h:0:22000:1279:1280:17504 9Live_alt:12480:v:0:27500:767:768:897
