Hi.

I want to test out my MythTV backend (MythDora installation) using the Knoppmyth "Live" front-end CD.
My backend Mythtv IP address is static and I configured it in the Host Address Backend Setup.
Now I'm trying to use the Live CD to test connectivity and I'm not getting anywhere.
Is there any website I could use to trouble-shoot this issue, or can someone assist?
Thanks a million!

Have you setup mysql so that it will accept network connections?

See "preparing the backend" on this page:

Hi Greg. Thanks for the link.

Strange that I don't have an mysql directory in my /etc directory. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

My backend system is MythDora 3.1.

Thanks a bunch!

One more thing. I found a my.sql file under the /etc folder. It has the following content:

[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
# Default to using old password format for compatibility with mysql 3.x
# clients (those using the mysqlclient10 compatibility package).
old_passwords=1

[mysql.server]
user=mysql
basedir=/var/lib

[mysqld_safe]
log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid

I'm thinking this is the wrong file to update, but I wanted to post this as well.

Thanks again.

Try:

# updatedb
# locate my.cnf

See if anything turns up.
