Hi, I have about 5 orphan recordings in my tv folder(where mythtv puts all TV recordings) but I do not see any corresponding info in database. Can somebody suggest how to recover these files so that I may edit them and encode them? Thanks in advance. PK |

do you have a backup of the database that had db records that corespond to the nuv files? One easy thing to do is just record 5 crappy shows, delete the nuv files and rename the current orphan files to the deleted file names and then use nuvexport to encode them in to something else. ![]() |

or if they were recorded with a pvr hardware card then just rename them to blah.mpg and it will work just fine. |

PK Do you mean you don't see your recordings in the mysql database (mythconverg) or are the recordings just not listed (visible) within mythtv -> tv -> watch recording sreen? If the latter, try to hit 'M' and change the group to 'all shows'. |

mcdrama : Thanks for your idea. I also was thinking the same(recording some crap and then replacing the crap files with the ones I have) but I wanted to write a script to recover such files which would save me from future problems. Xsecrets : I can play those file, no problem, I just wanted to be able to edit them to remove commercials and encode them using ffmpeg. beamleand : I do not see the data in mysql database itself at all. Actually I caused this problem myself. I had a backup of mysql database at time T1. Then I recorded a few programs(the ones that are orphan now). And then during some testing I restored the old database of time T1, thus losing the information about the new recordings. I know there may not be many idiots like me, but I would like to write small script to recover such files to save the few of us from this problem again ![]() |

this would be a very simple script to write, once I get to work, I will take a stab at it. The problem is that you need show names, times, and other misc info. I will post later on with a script. ttfn! --Matt |
