Post subject: | recorded videos appear to be without(??) sound |
hi, strange problem here. when i record a tv program (using dvb-s card and knoppmyth) i get a nice *.mpg file in my knoppmyth computer. then i transport the video to another computer (win98se) using my ethernet network. all fine. when i want to see the video and play it in VLC, i get a nice videofilm with sound. still fine. as i want to edit the video (cut heads and tails, cut unwanted parts) with a video-editor (Magix Video de Luxe 2005 (commercial program for windows), i open the video in Magix. on the timeline of the editor i only get the video part, not the sound track. when i play the video in Magix, it plays, but WITHOUT sound.. did i do something wrong in the recording on my Knoppmyth box and is the video unusable? how can it play okay in VLC?? what can i do to convert the *.mpg file to an editable file which can be burned as a dvd on a disk... (that was what i intended to do). thanks for your advice.. rob NL |

It might not understand that MPEG files can have multiple soundtracks, or you may have to set which soundtrack to use. Or it doesn't understand MPEG Transport Stream files. To get around this, you could use ProjectX to demux the file into a .m2v file for video and .mp2 files for the audio tracks. Hopefully your editing app will allow the file to be re-multiplexed. You'll need to install Java to run ProjectX Bruce S. |
