Post subject:  MythVideo - Internal player stuttering - why?

Hi,

I've finally gotten around to putting some movies on mythvideo. Strangely the internal player just can't cut it with .VOB's. Constant stuttering, more on some files than others. I converted one movie to xvid and it played fine, but for some movies I won't want to have the quality reduction.

This occurs both on my FE (p4 2.4, 512mb, 6200/256mb agp video, wired LAN) _and_ FE/BE (Ath 3200+, 2gb, 6200/256mb agp video, SATA disk). I record lots of OTA HD and have no problems with playback on either unit.

I tried using xine instead, and everything played fine. But only two buttons on my remote work with xine, so I'd just prefer to use the internal player.

Why is a less intense data stream causing the internal player to choke? Anybody know how I can fix it?

Are you using XvMC? I'd think that this would be the most likely cause. Try dis/enabling it and playing the video. What options did you use for xine?

I had problems with stuttering when playing videos with the internal. I found Xine to be far superior, at least in my world. I think it would be worth the small amount of time it takes to add the support for Xine to the remote. There are several postings of .lircrc files in this forum that can easily be found with the search utility. Just cut and paste what you need.
