I just discovered that the freedb cddb database from www.freedb.org has the same format as is used by MythTV. I just unpacked it and made a symlink from it to ~mythtv/.cddb and I now have track information without always connecting to the internet. If you use the default installation, you have to reformat one of the partitions to get enough inodes to unpack the whole thing. It is only about 3M unpacked, but there are over 1.4 million files. I reformated my /cache since I don't use it yet. With 2M inodes and a blocksize of 1024 everything worked. I'll write a step-by-step when I get more time and add it wo wiki. Allen Update: I finally got bluetooth going so I can connect to the modem I have. I can now say that the above probably isn't worth the effort. Basically, about 1/3 of the CDs I put in came up with the wrong data because of duplicates. Connecting directly, I have had no errors in 20 CDs (so far). I don't know why there is no duplication problem. There must me more info than the CD ID exchanged... |

Uhm... You are aware that cache is used for the ring buffer for live TV right? If you start experiencing strange problems with that and want to know the cause we'll be refering you to the nearest reflective surface... |

well at least he's lucky the ringbuffer doesn't use alot of inodes. however depending on the settings it could easily think it has more space than it does now. |

I know... I don't even have a TV card yet so it isn't a problem. Once I get my CD collection in, I'll reformat back again. I first tried to find a way to break out a new partition without serious fiddling of the knoppmyth installation. Unfortunately, it creates 4 physical partitions, so I couldn't create a logical one without turning one of the original four into a logical parition and messing up the /dev/hdax mounts. (from my understanding, if there are 4 physical partitions, there can be no logical ones). Any reason why the default knoppmyth doesn't 3 physical and 1 logical partions? Allen |
