Is there a way of editing the ID3 data of music tracks within Mythtv? Sometimes I like to shorten titles and album names so that are better displayed when playing through MythMusic. Also one particular track appears with part of the song title as the artist name. I suspect this is because the title may have had a hyphen in it.

I'm 99.99999% certain there is no way.

When a track is playing, you can bring up the info on it ("i", I believe... I always forget and hit keys until it comes up). From here, you canl change the information shown in mythtv by modifying the entry in the DB. However, it will not modify the actual id3 tags.

To modify id3 tags, I use easytag (apt-get install easytag).

Cheers,

Allen

Allen,

Your suggestion of pressing the "i" key while the track was playing worked beautifully. I was able to modify any part of the track data and was then given the option of saving to database only, file only or both. I have now corrected the annoying wrong data.

Many thanks
