Is it possible to watch TV real-time without ring buffer enabled? I am using an external cable box and change channels on it. Often, it takes up to 2 seconds for the change I made on the box to appear on the display. Basically, I'm watching an image that was generated 1-2 seconds ago.

Any suggestions?

Thank You
Jack

Mostly that if you're channel surfing with the PVR you're sort of missing the point.

Rather than channel surfing try one of these:

- Use the program guide. This will let you "see what else is on" in far greater detail than channel surfing and without missing anything.

- Enable "browse" mode which cycles the OSD. This is kind of like using the program guide but flips things around so that the program stays at full screen.

- If you're trying to escape being annoyed by commercials hit pause and do something else for a few minutes. Easy to forget that you can do that. The beauty of this is once you've got a little backlog you can skip through the next set of commercials without having to wait.

- With multiple tuners you can use PiP to get the best of both. Pause what you're watching, swap it back into the PiP window and then browse.... Ideal for checking the scores of other games without missing any of the action.
