Hi All, My R6 install is going great guns, just one thing at the moment is strange. Most times it boots from user request (ie me pushing the on button), i get the "backend is not running" dialog. I hit "ok", and all is well... It would seem that the frontend is starting too fast before the backend has had a chance to get its act together? Any ideas? I looked in the mythbackend log, but nothing is there that is obvious. And there is no frontend log (by default?). Cheers, Nathan |

Try this: Service Menu > MythTV Configuration > Setup > General > 2nd Page. Check "Enable Database Server Wake Up" Code: Reconnect Time: 5
Retry Attempts: 5 Wake Command: <blank> This will cause the frontend to try to connect to the DB every 5 seconds for up to 5 tries before showing you the "Backend Is Not Running" error. This happens to me on one of my FE's. I think the networking is slow to get going, so the FE thinks the BE is not available. |

Spot on mihanson, I quickly tried the setting this morning, rebooted, and she worked... i did a fresh R6 install, and the reconnect time defaults to 0, which means it never retries... possibly, should be set to 5, so it atleast tries by default? Thanks again for your help... Nathan |

I would encourage you to open a flyspray ticket that way it is for sure brought to Cecil and his team's attention and they can decide what the default behavior should be. |
