I've been trying the diskless frontend venture with R5.5. So far it isn't working.

What I see it doing is creating an NFSroot directory about 85 gigs in size. I don't think that is normal, is it?

No that is not normal. There was an issue at one stage for people who had added a second hard drive. are you in that category? my nfsroot directory is 546M.

See the messages at this point in this thread.

Thanks Greg. I had read through that post yesterday, but with a six year old and a toddler constantly demanding your attention, it's easy to gloss over things!

I had tried to retrieve your newer script yesterday, but the link was down on the server(at your work?). I did get it today, created a knoppmyth2_diskless_frontend.bash, did the install, which successfully created a 346M nfsroot file. Much better than 86G!

Now it is caught in a loop where it is booting from the BE, but the screen flashes by so fast one can't read it. I caught it with my camera:
Trying to load:pxelinux.cfg/etc,etc...
Trying to load:pxelinux.cfg/default
Missing parameter in config file.
Unknown keyword in config file. (X3)
Missing parameter in config file.
Unknown keyword in config file.
Loading vmlinuz-nfsroot.....................................

Then it reboots. So, from what I've been reading, my nic may be configured improperly or such? I'll keep digging. Maybe I'll learn something that can get me a job here in Metro-Detroit!
