Trying to install nvidia vdpau drivers and upgrade myth I get the following error.

Code:
 [root@trev ~]# pacman -Sf mythtv-vdpau
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: nvidia-utils conflicts with libgl. Remove libgl? [Y/n] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: ati-dri: requires libgl>=7.2
:: intel-dri: requires libgl>=7.2
:: xf86-video-ati: requires libgl>=7.2
:: xf86-video-mga: requires libgl>=7.2
:: xf86-video-savage: requires libgl>=7.2
:: xf86-video-trident: requires libgl>=7.2

So how do I upgrade libgl ?

I had to force install to use vesa becuase it hangs on the install when it tries to use the nvidia drivers.

Thanks

Craig

That driver conflict... What display card do you have? (Did you ever change cards?)

Nobody replied to you back then, but I'm curious to know if you ever solved this problem. I am running VDPAU with the FIRST r6 release. (Probably will not update again until VDPAU supported in MythTV then LinHes which could be a year away? Anybody know an ETA?) You can try r6.0.0.7 -- run "pacman -S linhes-scripts" to fix some bugs.

Someone else on this forum had a problem with this second r6 and VDPAU, in this case screwing up mythtranscode. No answers given. Haven't seen the problem you describe being unable to update the drivers. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Perhaps the previous r6 is your answer, but that's a shot in the dark.

Let us know your progress / solutions!

Just an update.

I cannot install any version past .0.5
If I install 0.5 then run pacman -Sfu it will updat and nvidia still works.
I can then upgrade to the vdpau version of myth and all is good.

Code:
# pacman -Syfd mythtv-vdpau
should do the trick. The y switch ensures the package database is up-to-date (use yy to force it to sync with the knoppmyth server even if it thinks you're already up-to-date.) the d switch turns off dependency checking and, as you probably know, the f switch will force an action. man pacman should be useful to anyone who has never dealt with Archlinux before.
