Sorry, I missed your second post.

Have you tried checking the db for corrupted tables? Is there anything in the backend log?

I appreciate you trying to help, but in my very first post and the one you just read, I said there is nothing relevant in the backend log. Nothing I would expect to see about permission errors, delete failed, etc. You can't even tell the deletes are happening based on the mythbackend.log entries. Nothing in mythfrontend.log or mysqld.log either.

I did check the db for corrupted tables before trying to delete the programs. If I remember correctly, recordseek table or something like that needed to be repaired.

Here's an excerpt from the lighttpd access.log from when I tried to delete a file:

Code:
[myIP] [hostname]:8080 - [20/Jun/2010:10:44:06 -0500] "GET /mythweb/tv/recorded?delete=yes&chanid=65053&starttime=1276293600&forget_old=yes HTTP/1.1" 302 11 "http://[hostname]:8080/mythweb/tv/recorded?recgroup=&title=Paula%27s+Home+Cooking" "[my useragent]"

Since it's trying to delete by chanid and starttime instead of by filename, I wonder if the fact that the specified chanid no longer existed made the file more difficult to delete somehow. This also doesn't explain why titles deleted from the main UI (ie, not the web) also reappear but again I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the channels no longer existed when I deleted the files.

Once again sorry, but what I meant to ask was if you had increased the verbosity of the backend log and if there was anything then. I think something like mythbackend -v file, database may be most useful but you may need more than that.
