Have you looked at MythWeb? I think it will do what you want.

I dont entirely understand what you mean by manual recording.. I would guess you mean.. Manualy selecting a show to record. if that is the case. just use mythweb and click on a show in the web-based epg. it will bring up a screen and choose "record show once" or something like that.. Is that what you were asking?

no.

start at mythtv's main menu on your TV.
select "TV"
select "Schedule Recordings"
select "Manual Schedule"

this brings you to a screen called "Manual Recording Scheduler",
which allows one to enter the channel, date, time, length, and info
for performing a manually scheduled recording -- sort of like the
VCR's of past.

i have several inputs and would like to set up manual scheduling
remotely. i.e., i would like to do the above from the command line
via ssh or via mythweb -- and not via the TV's displayed dialogs.

ideas?

jim

ps
i can think of one other way to do this: is there a command line SQL
prototype which i could use to enter a "SHOW" into the program db?
in other words, i could first populate the "SHOW" info (chan, time, etc)
into the db via the shell, then open up MythWeb to select that "SHOW"
for recording. how about that?

No MythWeb doesn't allow this(perhaps in the future). If you knew what SQL commands to import, I suppose it can be done from the shell. Of course once you know what SQL to use, you can use Webmin to do the same.
