How do i get my remote to work with mplayer?

When I select "Play DVD" in the MythTV menu, the DVD plays, but I can only control it with the keyboard. Would like to control it with the remote, same as when watching TV in Myth.

See http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=87&highlight=mplayer+lirc

it has details on how to do exactly this. you probably want to use cesman's config as mine is a little sparse just pause exit, and skip forard and backwards.

Thanks, that worked fine!

I added also, just for fun:

# mostly to un-pause intuitively...
begin
prog = mplayer
button = PLAY
config = pause
end

# to toggle fullscreen/windowed
begin
prog = mplayer
button = FULL
config = vo_fullscreen
end

Now that I have that working, here's my next thing - getting some intuitiveness into the remote commands.

Is there a way to change the mapping of a keystroke to something else when I'm in a different screen in MythTV?

For example, I'd like the "Enter" to have it's normal function except in the guide. I want "Enter" (and consequently the OK key on the remote) to change to that channel and go back to fullscreen TV. Pressing "M" makes no sense. Even "GO" would be better...

I want VOL- and VOL+ to be volume controls when watching TV, not skip ahead and back, but in the guide should be navigation controls as they are now.

Any ideas how to accomplish this?

-Andy.
