Hi,

I've got a DVD record that I need to keep on my windows box for now. I've got a PVR-250. Is there a way for me to make a DVD image (like an .iso file)
that I can just transfer to my windows box and burn? Also will I be able to edit out the comercials etc... before making the image but still preserve the same quality?

Adrian

Well, you could do this any number of ways:

* you could move the PVR-250 recordings in /myth/pretty/ over to your Windows box and then build the DVD there (this is what I usually end up doing)

* you could use spit2k1's scripts that let you select recordings and build an ISO file. I've used them and they do work, although the scripts don't edit out commercials (they do put chapter stops at the cutlist, though, so you can quickly skip commercials), and the Linux tools used seem to not handle problems with audio in the files as well as the Windows tools do.

* you could run DVD Author and growisofs manually, after chopping out the commercials manually (I think there's a newer version of nuvexport that just edits the MPEG2 files and doesn't require a transcode like the version that comes with Knoppmyth).
