First off let me say I'm a complete newbie to MythTV, I want to convert my SnapStream BeyondTV setup to MythTV.

I ran the installation and all went well with that.

I am however quite confused about how to configure my setup in order to view TV on my monitor.

I am using a Hauppauge 250 in my system hooked up to regular cable input.

The backend configuration is what is confusing me, here is what I have:

------------------------------------------------------

Capture Card:

Card Type: MPEG-2 Encoder Card (PVR-250, PVR-350)

Video device: /dev/video
vbi device: /dev/vbi
audio device: /dev/dsp

Default input: Composite 0

** Should that be "Composite 0", "Tuner 0" or ??

------------------------------------------------------

Create a video source named "test"

------------------------------------------------------

Input Connections:

** These are the input options given to me.

[MPEG : /dev/video] (Composite 0) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (Composite 1) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (Composite 2) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (Composite 3) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (Tuner 0) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (Composite 4) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (S-Video 0) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (S-Video 1) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (S-Video 2) -> (None)
[MPEG : /dev/video] (S-Video 3) -> (None)

** I know I'm supposed to bind one of these to my video source, but which one ??

------------------------------------------------------

Channel Editor:

Do I need to mess with this?

------------------------------------------------------

I have tried various combinations but have so far just managed to get a black screen when trying to watch TV.

Any help would be appreciated, I would love to get this set up right as I'm getting fed up with Snapstreams Beyond TV...

Thanks....

if you are using the coax that is tuner0. composite is an rca like plug, and svideo is the round ps2 type plug.

So you should choose tuner0 in the card setup, and you should bind test to tuner0 under input connections.

Would you mind listing which port is which if you happen to know off hand?

For example:

Composite 0 = The blah blah blah type connection
Composite 1 = The RCA type Video Jack
Composite 2 = The headphone jack type audio L & R Jack
Composite 3 = Not used
Tuner 0 = The Coax cable type connection
Composite 4 = not used
S-Video 0 = N/A
S-Video 1 = The S-Video plug on your card
S-Video 2 = whatever
S-Video 3 = something else

Thanks!
