Hi Guys,

I have a question...or two.

Firstly, is there any way to change the default silver background that loads just before Myth does? (Basically, what is the filename of the silver background with black text on it?)

Secondly, is there a way to change the network settings to tell either Knoppix or Myth to connect to the net through a proxy server? I need to configure my box to connect through 192.168.0.1 on port 4480.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
Chris.

Lazyidiot, I don't know the screens off the top of my head, but i the general setup of MythTV Setup you can set the ports in there for which the backend will listening too. If you look there you will be able to see the ports that are set by default.

I could be wrong but it appears they are asking about connecting to the internet via a proxy server, not how to contact the backend server.

Im pretty sure directing http traffic to a proxy is the job of the particular client. (doesn't IE have a proxy setup congig page?)

Are you talking about wget access to the internet? check the wget man page. http://www.rootr.net/man?parameter=wget&mode=info Toward teh bottom you will see an example .wgetrc file. In that fill look for the part that has the proxy setting, might be of some help

Code:
# You can set the default proxies for Wget to use for http and ftp.
     # They will override the value in the environment.
     #http_proxy = http://proxy.yoyodyne.com:18023/
     #ftp_proxy = http://proxy.yoyodyne.com:18023/

     # If you do not want to use proxy at all, set this to off.
     #use_proxy = on

Hi Chris,

I was also wondering this as I am behind a Squid/Privoxy/Tor box. After finally working out which Window manager is in use and which files do what, I realised that the mythtv user has the shell /usr/bin/sh for some reason.

Login as root open the /etc/passwd file in nano and change the shell for mythtv to bash (just change the sh at the end of the line to bash). MythTv is now using my proxy defined in the /etc/bash.bashrc file.

Now if I could just get MythTv to play my DivX films from my Windows XP file share.......

Regards

Dave K.
