What exactly does "scan for music" do?

What I want to do is copy music from my /myth/temp and then import that to my /myth/music directory and put it into the DB. Will the "Scan for Music" option do this for me? or will it just put the music from /myth/temp into the database without moving the files?

I'm pretty sure you need to move the files into the /myth/music directory. Scan will look there and import

"Scan for new music" will look in the /myth/music folder and import those names into the database, so yes you need to have your music in the /myth/music folder.
