Is there a solution to this ? I was using putty and Xming to connect to myth before with 5.5, so I know my Windows setup is ok. When I try to connect with $ mythfrontend , I get the following error message:

mythfrontend: cannot connect to X server localhost:11.0,
Xming is running, my /etc/ssh/sshd_config has the X11Forwarding yes, what am I missing?

I love R6 great work guys, just I learning curve to get everything the way it was.....

Sorry guys, I haven't used windows on my workstation in a long time so I can't help to trouble shoot your problem. Is vnc an option for you or does it have to be an xsession?

Graysky,
I use VNC as a backup, but xsession option was nice because my laptop doesn't display 1920X1080, so I have to move around the screen to view it entirely, unless there is a way to limit the screen size with VNC....like 1024X768 or so....thanks!

Depends on what you want to do with it. For example, x11vnc will give you the same screen size as your parent set, which in your case is I'm assuming 1080p. You can use tightvnc and set the thing up to whatever you want - it doesn't even need to be a standard resolution. Use 1000x800 if you want. See my tightvnc howto. The caveat is that each vncserver runs totally in parallel to your "real" desktop, so using this to control your mythtv is out of the question.

Or you can set the -scale option on x11vnc to reduce it as I do for my 1920x and 1280x displays. I use -scale .75 myself, if you don't have a widescreen on the connecting computer you'll have to play with it to get a usable size. See man x11vnc for other options.

I was having the same problem with the xsession approach. After reading this, I added this to my /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
Code:
X11UseLocalhost no

and it now works!
