Post subject:  Possible to record with no internet?
Hello, I'm trying to decide whether MythTV is the right pvr software for me.

Is it possible to use MythTV with no internet connection whatsoever? I'd just like to manually schedule in the dates and times of the programs I want to record (just like using a vcr). I have a Hauppauge PVR-150, and I just want to use the remote to schedule the recordings.

You will have to do some serious tweaking to make it work. Can try in the mythtv-setup to add a channel (do only one or two for testing) . Pick a channel that is available, 3 for vcr maybe, or cable box, fill in the questions, give a name, and for freqid use the channel number (us anyway) .

Just a general idea of where to start. I use channel 1 for composite video in and assign it a name of (being creative here) Video with no commerials. Leave freqid blank.

Will work fine with RF and assign that to the tuner.

My Myth box is not networked. Manual recordings work fine. All you need is to have your channels configured in the database (via mythtv-setup)
