What is the "correct" way to disable the MythTV frontend so that it won't start on boot?

edit /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps ?

Seems like there should be a little control panel to do this. :D

Thanks!

I'm working on the power management features (ie. the computer turns itself on when it needs to record a show and then turns itself off when finished).

If the frontend is running, it won't turn off so it needs to be disabled on boot.

I have this working partially, but it needs some more fiddling.

BTW, I would really like a big button on the desktop that I can launch myth frontend from. Using the fluxbox menu is annoying (this is supposed to be the UI?).

I guess I should setup the remote to launch the frontend, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

no mythtv is supposed to be the UI if we wanted a nice destop pc interface we would have put kde or gnome on there, but knoppmyth is designed to be a settop box.

Hi gummybear,

That makes sense, experimenting :) I personnally would not want a "big ol' ugly button" messing with my favorite Tux wallpaper. Anyway, there have been issues about the frontend not starting, bet if you were to check those and see how it was fixed, you would see how to "unfix" yours.

For testing, you could run at a root prompt, # killall gdm and that will stop the mythfrontend. If your shutdown, reboot works then find the knoppmyth-run statement in maybe the /home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps where you might be able to simply remove the startup line. Make a copy first, just in case...
