Post subject:  backend filepaths for frontend

OK, I have been having issues with playing recorded programs on the frontend that is different machine to the backend.

After 12hours or so frigging with it the penny dropped.....
the front end is trying to play the recorded programs locally, not from the backend.

So, how do I fix this?

Anyones help would be greatly appreciated, this is the LAST piece in the puzzle.

cheers

A frontend should never attempt to play files locally. Are you certain you setup a frontend and not a slave backend? If you have doubts, read the pamphlet or the wiki.

well, i finally fixed the issue and it works nicely now.

Sure this may be a case of RTFM, but by crickey, why the hell wouldnt there be something in the setup telling you that if you are building a frontend you need NFS shares setup, and do it for you?
I thought that this was supposed to be easier than manually building?

ANyway, all is fantastic now, what a top bit of code this is :-)

First off, you don't need NFS for a frontend. Interesting that you'd complain about this not being easier than a manual install over something as simple as setting up a frontend.

OK, badly explaining myself, I meant that you needed to setup NFS on the backend for the frontend to work.

I would have though that there would have been a message in the install about it , that is all. Or even an error that said that..

You shoudnt have to be jumping on here or googling the issue for hours to find it is someting so simple.

I found the answer to the issue, it all works wonderfully now, I have zero complaints about knoppmyth, I love it.
