| Post subject: | Codecs KnoppMyth and MythTv |
I have a ton of video i just learned how to FTP onto my PVR. The only thing is most of the video is encoded with Divx, Xvid, or some .ogm crap. Anyhow they don't playback right with MythTv. Does KnoppMyth come with support for any of these codecs? Can i install any of these codecs? |

AFAIK mythtv only natively supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and RTJPEG. The MythVideo module however uses an external player to play video files. By default that is mplayer in KnoppMyth. Not all of the codecs supported by Mplayer are supported in a standard KnoppMyth install because of the dubious legality of some of them under the DMCA. Having said that, mplayer does support a wide variety of codecs. You can probably also re-install mplayer to support its full gamut of codecs. |
