Post subject: | Turn SVideo Output On/Off |
I have an interesting problem. While I am doing renovations in the basement, I have moved my mythTv box upstairs. Unfortunately the TV in that room only has a coax input. I bought a modulator that takes the the SVideo from my box and outputs it on channel 3. I want to be able to turn the SVideo output off when the box is recording so I can still watch another program. Is there a way to turn the svideo output off? If so, can I add something to lirc to do this directly from the remote? My Mythtv Setup: Athlon 1.2GHz (2x) Haugpage 250 NVidea GeForce 5600Mx 250 GB HD |

While I appreciate that someone replied. . . Do you honestly believe you answered my question? Anyone who would be using a modulator in the first place could put two and two together and know that by turning it off I could get my regular tuner working again. What I was asking was (and I thought this was clear) Can you turn off the Svideo output from your machine "on-the-fly", and assuming that you can, can you do it in such a way that it can be triggered by your remote through LIRC? |

I have an older nvidia card (geforce2 mx400) and can turn off the s-video output using the nvtv command. Not sure how to do it for newer nvidia cards, it may not be possible. Does nvidia-settings have an option to do it? You can do just about anything with the remote, so if it is possible, you should be able to do it with the remote. Search the forum for irexec for examples of how to run scripts (or commands) when you press a button on your remote. |
