I decided I wanted to add tuner(s) to my single PVR-350 box, so I got a PVR500MCE to add to it. I've tried several versions of ivtv (currently using 0.4.0) and of the enc/dec binaries in /lib/modules, but all boil down the same basic problem. So, I was wondering if this sounded familiar to anyone. (or if there's any suggestions) When I boot, I get the appended messages (I've also stuffed a WinTV GO Plus card in there in hopes that I can get SOMETHING to work right...so that's where the bttv stuff comes from, but my problems with the pvr500 are the same regardless). This is an excerpt from my dmesg output related to the 1st tuner on the pvr500 card: Code: ivtv: ====================== NEXT CARD ====================== ivtv1: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based) PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:08.0 (0014 -> 0016) ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:02:08.0[A] -> GSI 9 (level, low) -> IRQ 9 tveeprom: starting probe for adapter ivtv i2c driver #1 (0x10005) ivtv1 warning: i2c client addr: 0x50 not found for command 0x0! ivtv1: Error -19 reading Hauppauge eeprom. ivtv1: Possible causes: the tveeprom module was not loaded, or ivtv1: the eeprom kernel module was loaded before the tveeprom module. ivtv1 warning: i2c client addr: 0x44 not found for command 0x400464c9! ivtv1: loading /lib/modules/ivtv-fw-enc.bin ivtv1 warning: Encoder mailbox not found ivtv1 warning: Decoder mailbox not found ivtv1: Error locating firmware. ivtv1: Error -12 on initialization ivtv-iTVC15_16_mpg2_encoder_card: probe of 0000:02:08.0 failed with error -12 When I look at my PCI devices: Code: mythtv% lspci | grep video 0000:01:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) 0000:01:01.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11) 0000:02:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) 0000:02:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) (that's my PVR-350, WinTV GO Plus, then 2 tuners on the PVR-500MCE). And I've gone through my /lib/modules dir, renaming any tveeprom & tuner files I've found to be sure that the only tveeprom.ko & tuner.ko are those from ivtv. Looking in /lib/modules, I have this: Code: mythtv% ls -l total 1084 drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Oct 29 23:34 2.6.11.9-chw-2 -r--r--r-- 1 root root 376836 Sep 3 20:45 HcwFalcn.rom -r--r--r-- 1 root root 14264 Sep 3 20:45 HcwMakoA.ROM drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Nov 20 2004 extra -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 262144 Sep 3 23:57 ivtv-fw-dec.bin lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Oct 9 19:13 ivtv-fw-enc.bin -> /lib/modules/HcwFalcn.rom -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 262144 Sep 3 23:57 ivtv-fw-enc.bin-save -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 155648 Oct 9 19:01 ivtv_init_mpeg.bin drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 22 2005 misc drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 3 20:45 save20050903 My /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file currently looks like this: Code: alias char-major-81 videodev alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c options tveeprom debug=1 # options cx25840 debug=1 # options ivtv ivtv_debug=1 # options saa7127 debug=1 # options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 # install ivtv /sbin/modprobe tuner; /sbin/modprobe msp3400; /sbin/modprobe saa7115; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ivtv; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ivtv-fb; /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install lirc_i2c remove ivtv /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove ivtv && /sbin/modprobe -r saa7115 && /sbin/modprobe -r msp3400 && /sbin/modprobe -r tuner && /sbin/modprobe -r ivtv-fb && /sbin/modprobe -r lirc_i2c more complete dmesg output: Code: ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ====================

Why not try R5A22? It should hopfully just work... |

Yeah...well...that's to be my next step (after having problems this weekend trying to get a WinTV Go Plus card in as an "easy" 2nd tuner failed...pic, but no sound). Mainly I'm worried that since I've already tried ivtv 0.4.0, it won't help and I've got a system that's working for my PVR-350 card right now....so I was waiting to see if I see more feedback on A22, then maybe try that next weekend (I need to make sure I figure out how to get things backed up well enough, decide if there's anything I need to do with my /myth/tv LVM volume, etc). Just wondering if anyone's seen these symptoms before and has an easy "edit this and your problems will be magically cured" ![]() |

Except that now I see this at mysettopbox.tv home page...maybe I'll wait a little... ![]() 11/08/05 Please don't use R5A22. If you are doing a new install, please use R5A16. I accidently included a SVN version of MythTV in R5A22. According to Isaac, there is "no guarantee" this will smoothly upgrade to 0.19. If you are using R5A22, we are working on a way to safely revert MythTV to 0.18.2. My humble apologoies for the mix up. |

Use R5A26. See Cecil's announcement here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6944 I'll go update the Wiki now. |
