I just installed Knoppmyth R5A22 and copied some roms for xmame, nes, snes, etc to the roms dir's. But in Mythtv in the setup options for xmame I only get the very first screen. There are no other options. Also when I try to run any games it shows none in Mythtv.

You need to scan for games (somewhere in setup), and then when the games are there, you can press 'I' to get a menu for options that may be needed to run the game. If you cant get it to run, run the frontend from an xterm to see the command line that myth is trying to use to run the gaME and then use that same command line yourself from an xterm to see what the error it is reporting is.

In the setup I run "scan for games" and it does nothing. Just kinda flickers.

If you run mythfrontend from an Xterm window, then try and run mythgame, there'll be an error in the Xterm box.

I'm very confused myself, the last time I played with mythgame, there were path configurations for where to find stuff like catver.ini and history.dat. I have my roms working, but I would like to be able to sort them by genre. Mythgame doesn't seem to be finding my catver.ini and history.dat however. Where do I set this?

ok, I've found it.

It's a little odd, but you've got to setup a 'player':
Utilities/Setup>Setup>Media Settings>Game Settings> Game Players
