At the very least you need to fix your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to specify the right driver, either "nv" for a quick and dirty start or preferably "nvidia" for good TV output. It might be easier to just copy an example...

When i upgraded it just overwrote the KnoppMyth stuff and didn't touch my video. I wouldn't mind it re-writing the knoppmyth stuff if this will fix my problem. Can this be done? How so? Can i just do upgrade even though its the same version now?

Hi oxalic,

Yes, you can redo an auto upgrade, do a Backup first so you retain some of the settings. Assuming you are using A26, if not, upgrade

Or as tjc suggested, nano /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 scroll down to the driver line that will probably show ATI and replace it with nv. Exit & save, # killall gdm # startx (testing, if all is ok, you will have to do control + c to exit) and if all is well # gdm

Works very well if doing ssh from a different box.

Mike

Also does this tie to a previous post about DVI?
