Has anyone come up with a successful solution for watching Macromedia Flash files in MythTV? I've tried the following: Define the swf (flash) filetype, and use MythBrowser to open the file. MythBrowser doesn't understand the format, though. Mozilla Firebird successfully opens the file, but there's no way to close the Firebird window without resorting to the mouse -- this won't work once I get my front ends up and running. Anyone else have any good suggestions? |

I was going to ask the same question. Maybe, after over half a year has passed since the original post, someone has discovered a way to do this? It would be nice to be able to view the plethora of cool animated flash movies on a Myth PVR box. Actually, is there such a thing as a stand-alone SWF player for linux? I assume that this would be a requirement for making a Myth plugin to play SWF's. |

Ok, to answer the question myself, if you want to be able to watch swf content on your myth box then it's probably best to use an swf2avi converter and convert the swf's to video, copy them into the video dir and watch them like that. The catch is that I'm not sure if there are any swf2avi converters for linux but if you have a win box handy somewhere you can do your dirty work there... ... [edit] ... ... so that's one way but I just discovered that there is a gstreamer plugin and util to handle swf files and there is a swf player using the gstreamer plugin. So, an apt-get install swf-player should do the trick. I don't think it does full screen though... but anyway, there's a solution. HTH. |
