No.
I realize you answered that you cannot use the mouse to control the menus. However, I imagine you are talking about moving the "pointer" to "click" on the various mythTV menus, just like a regular mouse and GUI.
Here is a slightly different question:
Can you map the mouse-clicks from a mouse to simulate keyboard presses? Such as:
Left-click == Left-arrow
Right-click == Right-arrow
Wheel-Up == Up-arrow
Wheel-Down == Down-arrow
Middle-click (Wheel-click) == p
I'll tell you why. First, I am just starting down the wonderful mythTV road, so I only have various pieces of hardware laying around to use. No remote control, only a PS/2 wired keyboard and mouse. I recently moved the frontend/backend computer to a neighboring room, and then I connected it to the television using very long composite cables. I control the frontend using my laptop computer and x11vnc.
This works great, except that sometimes the x11vnc will mysteriously crash and refuse to connect.
(if you know anything about x11vnc, I'd appreciate your help with that too! Here's the link to my question on that topic:)

Before I moved the computer out of the room, I would just go to the keyboard and reboot the computer. But now I would have to go to the neighboring room and try to operate the front-end blind since I cannot see the T.V. (there is no display connected to the computer over there).
So I had this great idea to map the mouse-clicks to the keyboard presses (I don't know how to do this). I have very long USB cables, and I could use the USB mouse in the T.V. room, and therefore use the USB mouse to perform some basic functions.
I realize I could use puTTY to send a command-line reboot command to the backend, but there were two problems:
1. First, I wanted to check the Upcoming Recordings or System Status and make sure there weren't any ongoing recording jobs that would be interrupted by a reboot right at that moment.
2. Second, if there were some ongoing recording jobs, maybe I would use the USB mouse to control the frontend just enough to play a recording during the interim.
I also realize this entire problem could be solved with a few dollars spent on an IR interface and remote control, but at least for the moment, I'd like to stay on the no-cost road.
Thanks very much!
