I configured a new Mythtv box with R5A30.2. I have a Shuttle SN41G2 with 512 RAM, 300GB WD HDD, Hauppauge PVR350. Everything works well, except three things:

1. When I try to watch live TV while I have a recording going, I get a message saying "MythTV is already using all available input for recording. ..." with a single-choice button "Cancel and go back to the TV menu". As a result, I cannot watch live TV while another show is being recorded. I believe that I went through all configuration menus and I could not find one suitable for this.

2. The size of the screen is a little larger than my TV. I tried several of the options under Utilities/Setup --> Setup --> Appearances (second menu) and Utilities/Setup --> Setup --> TV Settings --> Playback (8th menu); and all to no avail. Live TV seems to have normal size, but the admin menu is large enough to hide most of the checkbox options in the various configuration menus. I found several postings claiming that PVR350 has this issue, but I hope that there is an actual solution for this issue.

3. The Mute button on the remote control A415-HPG does not work. Also, the TV, Video, Music, and Pictures buttons do not work. Probably, there are other buttons that also may not work, but I have not realized that yet. Currently, I have the stock lircd.conf and hardware.conf.

How did you think that would work? As far as I know the 350 has only one tuner, so it can only receive one channel at a time. If it is recording it is busy. To be able to watch live TV while recording a show you need at elast two tuners.

You CAN however start watching the recorded show before the recording has finished.


The stock files do not cover all those buttons.

2. Do you know anything about the oversized screen output?

3. Where can I find a config file that does cover all the buttons. I have seen postings from cesman asking for such files to be included in the release. Do you have a source with a sample config file? The ones that I found here either did not work, or were even worse that the stock version.

For the remote stuff, it isn't that hard to make it yourself first step is to check that lircd.conf contains all the keys, then run irw and press each one to check they work. If they don't then use irrecord to make one that has all the keys.

Next open /home/mythtv/.lircrc to customise what each key does in the various programs.
