I just upgraded from V5A16 to V5A26, however this problem existed in A16 as well.

When you go into the xmame menu of mythgame, the catigory of the games show up (ie maze), but they are not treated as subdirectories. I fixed this problem by changing the romname in gamemetadata to include the .zip. Eventho it is now selectable, it is still not playable. When mythrontend is run in xterm, this is the command that gets displayed upon selecting the gamename from mythgame,



I ran "find / -name "mythgame-settings.txt"" as root and nothing was found. I even tried setting up a symbolic link pointing to /myth/games/xmame/roms at /roms, no luck. Running "xmame -rompath /myth/games/xmame/roms /myth/games/xmame/roms/galaga.zip" works without any problems. What did everyone else do to get xmame running?

I'm desperate foa n answer on this too.

Like you, i've been able to get xmame working just by passing it the romdir and rom from xterm but this isnt really that acceptable...

If I knew how to go and tinker with the inner working of mythgame, i'm sure this would be much easier to fix but as it is, i'm not having any luck whatsoever (from the gui).

Now i've read near on a billion posts on how to fix this and to be honest, i'm not sure if i've managed to fix or break more..


When I run it from the frontend a little message box pops up and flies away before I have the smallest chance of being able to read it.

With all the different versions of things flying around (knoppmyth and mythtv as separate entities) and support threads for different versions I'm honestly not sure what to do anymore. Apparently they've fixed this and other things in the plain mythtv cvs version, but how do i get a later build onto the knoppmyth box?

Personally, I don't like the current state of MythGame in SVN. It is not that it doesn't work, it does. I just thing it is a step back from where things are in 0.18.x (which itself is a step back). Hopfully the final version will shine.
