Post subject:  resolving scheduling conflicts

First off, some background information: I use "manual schedule" to record all shows because I have no guide data. R5A16.

I schedule 2 shows with conflicting times:

program A: 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, but extended to end 1 minute later.
program B: 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Myth shows there is a conflict, and so I resolve it by raising the priority of program A. So program A records correctly from 7pm to 8:01pm. I would assume program B to start recording as soon as the tuner is available, which is 8:01pm. However, program B doesn't get recorded at all.

Why is that?

Since I have no guide data, Myth would not have been able to find a "later" showing of program B. I know I could have ensured program B to record if I edit the scheduling options to start it 1 minute later, but I had hoped Myth could have figured it out by itself.

Curious thing is if I reboot the machine anytime between 8:01pm to 9:00pm, then Myth will do the right thing and record program B from time-of-reboot until 9:00pm.

Why not just start recording program B at 8:01?

Yes, I know I could have done that. But I was hoping Myth would be able to work out the logic (ie. no more conflict after 8:01pm, and no later showing of the program available) on its own, and record it automatically.

I'm sure it would be possible to have mythtv work it all out, but at this point it doesn't, and that would be a feature request for the mythtv dev guys over on the mailing list or the trac. sorry no links, but I would have to look them up the same as you.

Submitted it to Trac this morning, and it got promptly rejected just as quickly :(

Didn't mention why. I did search through all the tickets first to make sure someone else hasn't already submitted it.
