Post subject: | Chopping commercials - where am I going wrong? |
I have a question about cutting the ccommercials from a recording. I"m using a PVR 150 (MCE edition) to record. So my files are all mpg2. My version of knoppmyth is R4a30.2 and I'm running on an AMD 3000+ w 512mb of Ram, so plenty of horsepower here. If I open up a show to play, and then hit E or M to go into edit mode the playback pauses, and I get my blue bar across the bottom. i hit the Z key to load my commercial list (auto skipping works fine - the commercials are being detected with a good degree of accuracy) and I do see it block off certain sections as red or commercials. From here, my understanding is that I should be able to hit X to output this as a file with the commercials actually chopped out. And If I were to copy this file to my windows box, or burn it to a DVD i'd have no commercials, is this right? Hitting X does nothing. If I hit escape I can exit out, and continue to exit out to the menu system, but I don't see anything lined up in my job queue. What am I doing wrong here, how can I check to see if I've unintentionally changed my keybinding from X to something else? Or maybe the directions i've found and am reading are for a different version and the "output" key isn't X in my version? |

- Upgrade to R5B7. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9069 - Once your up and runing from the main menu go to: Utilities/Setup->Setup->TV Settings->Recording Profiles->Transcoders->Autodetect from MPEG-2 Check the "Lossless Transcoding" box and hit Enter. - Now when you transcode to cut commercials it should work. Stolen shamelessly from this posting by Greg Frost: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8719 |

Is there a solution with the version I'm running? Upgrading to the new version is something that I have, but I need to wait until I have a window of time big enough to do both my front and back boxes. If i disrupt "service" to the television for too long I will loose points with the lady (she's starting to really be a fan of Myth, and I don't wanna break my momentum). If it's not really doable with the setup I have (or will be a lot of work) I'll just wait with what I have now as it's working "good enough" at the moment. |

Saw this thread and thought I'd take a stab. I, too, am running R5A30.2 and would rather not have to upgrade at this point in time. PVR-350. I can help you get to the next step, but am having a problem myself. First, are you saving your changes and cutlist by hitting "?" after you load the cutlist? As far as getting an output, try exiting out of edit mode (after saving by hitting "?") and getting back to your recordings list. The recording should not be playing at this point. Highlight the recording in question, and hit the right arrow key/button to bring up another menu. Select "Job Options" then "Begin Transcoding." If you can access the mythbox via MythWeb, you can track the progress of the job queue. Unfortunately, I get this far and I discover a problem. My nicely cut recording has no audio! So, I would advise that you uncheck the "delete original after transcoding" option found under mythtv-setup until all is right with the world. I used this link to help with the editing: http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=VideoEditHowTo and this one might be helpful (tho it wasn't for my problem) http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-23.html If you have further problems, you can try this (which I may have to do) http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=NuvexportToDVD Hope that helps, Rando. If anyone knows why I'm losing my sound upon cutting commerials, it would be most helpful! |

Post subject: | Comercial Skip + DVD burn |
Recording profile question: (along same thread) I went into the TV settings / Record profiles and changed my PVR 250 to record in DVD codec. When I use the DVDBurn tool it takes 20 seconds or so to transcode, but I still always get commercials. (With cutlist option on; I always get 'can't find cutlist') I did follow most of the HOWTO guide and many other suggestions. I'm 87 1/3% certain that I have all of the settings correct. I will try the "edit" and "save cutlist" tips from this thread. Do I need to use Mpeg2 TS or Mpeg2 PS recording profile for this to work. It seemed that I had to record at 720X480 to even be able to use the DVD-burn tool. I remember trying many times to get my 480X480 recordings to burn without getting anywhere. Am I spinning my wheels if not in MPEG2 PS or TS or something. ![]() |

Rando and Myth19kirt, did loading the cuts and saving them fix your problem? |

I was actually using an older version of Knoppmyth at the time of my last posting. I downloaded 5B7 and now commercial skip works great. I do recall starting to PLAY A RECORDING and pressing E and then Z and E again to create a CUTLIST. I can burn DVDs without commericals and watch recordings without commercials. I do think the AUTOSKIP will work on a frontend without loading cut points with E Z E. I played arround with the setup and got TRANSCODE to work, but my recent reload fails most transcode attempts. |
