I'm just curious how people are determining this setting for their boxes. Some of the documentation says it should be set to the number of tuners you have, other documentation omits any guidelines about this at all.

I have a lot more horsepower than I actually need for the tasks that I typically do... is there any reason not to bump this to number of tuners + 2 or 3?

I'm curious to see what people think.

It all depends on the CPU power, system RAM and the demands of recording/playback. If you set it for too many jobs it wont be able to record smoothly. Also if you use the system for anything other then mythtv you might not want the jobs grabbing all the system resources. Basically any number of jobs are acceptible as long as you don't see any trouble recording or playing back files.
