Post subject:  Running frontend from CD without reconfig each time?

Standard Knoppix has the "saveconfig" command that allows some settings
to be saved to floppy (or several other options). I tried this with KnoppMyth, but it doesn't alleviate the process of configuring the frontend each time I boot up the box. Is there something I'm missing?

After configuring the frontend I exit mythtv and type "saveconfig" in the shell. I check everybox and then select /dev/hda1 as the save location. When I boot I specify "knoppix myconfig=/dev/hda1". I think that my config is restored because it has my correct timezone. However, it doesn't save the dbhost or hostname variables and I have to go through the process of configuring the frontend each time I boot.

Any suggestions?

BTW, I'm running R5B7.

What OS is running on the frontend computer? If its one of the more popular distro's I'm sure you can find packages for it, Fedora, Ubuntu, Gentoo. and just install it. If it's windows and your booting of the CD, someone else may need to chime in, but I dont think you can save those settings. I may be wrong though.

A search for "saveconfig" wins.....

A possible answer to your question.
