Post subject: | mythweb stream and mythgame help |
Believe me I have been looking and searching so before you say www.google.com know that I hate when people ask stupid questions that can be answered by a simple search. I just cant decipher what is said in many of those posts due to being a linux newbie. I just upgraded to the new version of knoppmyth a few days ago fyi. But I have tried to get both features working before the new upgrade. First. Mythweb streaming. I want to stream a show using the mythweb stream feature. I have tried mms and http. I have vlc and windows media player and tried to manually enter in the launch link in both. Nothing pops up in vlc and windows media player says the server can not be connected too. I have not tweaked my myth box to add any major security programs so I dont know why i cant access it. Forgive me but if any of you can give a step by step process I would be in your debt. Second. Mythgame. This one is confusing. I assume that knoppmyth already comes preloaded with xmame since I see it in the numerous folders when i winscp into my box. Do i need to install anything into the actual myth box, or do i need to just plug and chug from my personal cpu with all the roms. I know where roms need to go. I have the complete rom set of Mame 1.03. Am I using the wrong set of roms. Also where do I place the Catver file since I do not have the folder most commonly discussed in the posts usr/local/share/xmame I believe. Thanks again. Okay I know this is alot and I assume I will get a few of you that say I did not try hard enough but for any of you that feels extra friendly I do appreciate the help and I truly enjoy Knoppmyth and will always support it in any way possible. THanks in advance. |

1. MythStream was tested fine with VLC running on Linux. Both the backend and the system running VLC were on the same network. There is never any testing using Windows anything (at least by Dale and I). In fact, if you have questions related to Windows, Off-Topic is the place to ask. 2. I'd suggest taking a look at the filesystem layout in the phamplet. You simply need to drop the ROMs in the appropriate directory and scan. As XMAME 0.90 is what is included, some of the ROMs may not work. You'll either have to upgrade XMAME or use a ROM management program (no, I have not used any of these). |

Is this all still the same with r5b7? there is no files in the nes/snes directories... where can i find a guide for setting up mythgame in r5b7? |

you should have directories /myth/games/nes, /myth/games/snes, etc. with knoppmyth r5b7. I haven't used xmame yet, but i have zsnes working pretty well so far. The knoppmyth wiki has an article on MythGame, but I didn't find it all that helpful. I found this article on the mythtv wiki much more helpful, though it can get a little confusing since the file structure is a little different in knoppmyth. Let me know if you need help, and I can walk you through it. |

So, you had success with RomDB? Have you tried XMAME yet? XMAME is all I use and have had no luck getting RomDB working... |

I have had partial luck getting xmame working in regards to the romdb (I recompiled mythgame and put the romdb in the mythconverg DB per this tutorial - Mythtv Wiki) but it doesn't detect all or even most of the mame games correctly and assign them valid names and gamepads still don't work in it. Every other emu (except mupen which has real problems) has worked well except this one. |

I am having the same problem I think with my romdb. How do you get the source for the mythgame packages? |
