Post subject: | [Solved] Missing channel icon in EPG |
Hi there, when comparing the screenshot provided by http://mythtv.sourceforge.net/mc/epgvideo.png with my actual EPG screen, I realized that the tiny channel icons in the list are present but the big channel icon in the left top corner is not. Instead, all I see is a black square with the channel name printed in. The rest of the EPG-page is fine, the preview video is sitting where it is supposed to be... So, why is the 'magnified' version of the icon of the selected channel not on display, or is there another set of icons apart from those in the my ~/.mythtv/channels directory? I first thought of permissions, but I do not see any reason why a picture shown somewhere else on the very same screen can not be displayed... |

If it has some but not all of the icons it will "make one up" like that. The cure is to find, DL and install one manually. Searching for "channel icon" with "tjc" as the author should find basic instructions on how to do this. I helped someone else with this within the last few weeks, and that thread has a link to the original instructions... OK, here's the source for the icons - http://www.satlogo.com/ And here are the directons you need - http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1216 (about 7 posts down) |

Thanks tjc, I was in fact one of those you (indirectly) helped with your post... ![]() However, the icons are not missing. They all sit in the ~/.mythtv/channels directory and are properly displayed e.g. in the OSD as well as in the lower half of the EPG screen. So the actual issue is to why is there no icon displayed in the top left corner of EPG... Edit: Is it possible that there is a requirement regading the format of the icons? I downloaded *.gif-Files, which as mentioned above work fine in -well almost - all places, but your post talks about *.jpeg... I cannot imagine that format matters, but you'll never know. ![]() |

Yeah, the format might matter. If you're seeing a correlation between the GIFs and the ones which don't work, try converting the GIFs to PNGs and see if that helps... Obviously you'll need to update the records in the DB to match... |

I am so damned stupid! ![]() It is always nice to have the icons hanging around on the MasterBackend in order to be used for the EPG pages built from the database entries. However, when watching LiveTV on the FrontEnd, it is -errhm- a strange assumption to rely on icons residing on some Backend... To cut the story short: the icons must reside within the local directories on the FrontEnd. Copied them from the MasterBackend et voila... all fine. You may now offically call me the idiot of the day... ![]() Well, at least I discovered my stupidity myself... ![]() |

I would think from the same source I pointed to above, since memory tells me that it's international. Worth a look anyway... For example here are the ones it has for Germany: http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/tvcountry/de.html |
