Hi MasterTH,

No need to appolgize, you do better with English than I do with German :) I didn't well with it in high school either...

I don't know what a "terratec" is however in general what I do to use composite in, is to use an unused tv channel. In the US channel 1 doesn't exist any longer, so I use it. I set up in the channel editor, and then on page two of the editor I also add that channel number to the freq id. Now when I wish to select composite, I simply tune to channel 1.

Only thing I can't do is press "R" to record as there has to be an entry in the tv listings for that to function. Manual record or manually programed records are fine. There is a tool to trick the "R" feature if really needed.

I would suspect your situation should be simular.

Good luck, hope this is helpful.

From your description I believe you are using the composite in to record the signal from your cable box.

Is this correct?

One way to do this would be to set up another source (call it cable). You then set up a separate load of channels for this source and associate it with the composite input. If you name these channels in such a way that they are distinct from the DVB channels, then you can specifically select the input you need for the channel you require (whether for live or for recording).

This has the advantage that you can use the EPG to schedule specific programs rather than having to manually enter the program details.

You would need to make sure the cable TV box is tuned to the correct channel at the time the recording starts, or you would record the wrong thing, but if you get an IR blaster you could even program mythtv to change channel on the cable box for you.

Now I believe there is a way that you can configure priorities for input sources so that you can actually have the same channel names but with multiple sources against them. When selecting the channel for record or livetv, it will pick the highest priority channel that isn't in use.

Obviously this is only appropriate for channels that are available on both DVB and Cable. For channels that are unique to cable it shouldn't need this.

I can't comment more on this as I haven't had a chance to try it out.

Cheers,

Keith

Post subject:  Selecting multiple input sources

I have a setup with a PVR-250 card, and while I can watch anything on the coax input, I can't figure out how to select the s-video input. The s-video is connected to a digital cable box. Where is the input select in Mythtv?

[ALT]-s brings up the channel config menu. Then just follow mjl's post above or take a look at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10624&highlight=

You will probably find the signal on "Composite4".
