NFS fileserver when i try to mount a nfs export from my fileserver to either knoppmyth box i get RPC timed out I have searched all over the place and i cant find anything any ideas? I want them to store TV recordings on my huge NFS filestor so i dont need large local harddrives. any help would be greatly apreciated. thank you. Gary |

I thought i might elaborate a bit more. I have several linux workstations and I use webmin on all of them to mount my NFS filestore. the first thing i do with knoppmyth is turn webmin on and use it to mount just like all my other linux PC's. the knoppmyth PC's are the only ones that timeout when trying to mount the NFS server im really stumped. here is the exact error reported by webmin. Webmin Index Module Index Error Failed to save mount : Mount failed : mount: RPC: Timed out <- Return to previous page |

Hi gary. Any news on your problem? I'm having the same issue with my newly installed knoppmyth R5E50. Earlier verison was no problem, it's the same server I try to mount, same export, same IP on knoppmyth.. I'm stuck.. |

I'm trying to setup a remote frontend (both be and fe run R5E50); tv and recordings work fine, but when I try to mount the /myth folder (I followed the instructions in the wiki) root@mythbox:~# mount 192.168.1.10:/myth /mnt/myth mount: RPC: Timed out Don't know what to do. |

Is the NFS daemon running, and what is the contents of your /etc/exports? (Both on the backend) Your logs (on the frontend) may give you an indication of the problem. Try Code: grep -i nfs /var/log/* | more

I think I found the solution: http://www.mail-archive.com/freebsd-sta ... 87817.html I entered the following line in /etc/hosts with IP address and host name of the client that was trying to connect: 192.168.1.12 mythfe Obviously address and name may vary depending of your configuration. After this (I didn't even need to restart services) it connected immidiately. Hope it solves your problems too. Happy easter |
