Post subject:  Zero length and/or missing recordings

I'm getting a high incidence of zero-length recordings since my otherwise successful upgrade to R5B7 from R5A26. Actually they're not even zero length; they're just not there!

I don't have a log excerpt handy; I'll try to C&P one from home if requested, but something interesting from the backend log is that it looks like it's done recording a program before it starts recording a program! The difference in time in only a few hundredths of a second, so I'm reasonably sure that it's not recording and losing my programs; it just won't try. There're no error indications in the log.

I'm using two PVR-500 cards. Video0 is a S-Video input from a DirecTV receiver, and it appears never to miss programs. I have a DVB in the lineup, and it seemed to be okay, too. Only the cable-tuner inputs seem not to record. Yes, they all work on LiveTV.

So… what's a good starting point for troubleshooting?

Hi,
I am seeing this on occasion too. I have not been able to figure out what is causing it. Are others seeing this? Searching the forum does not yield any obvious results to me.

Thanks!

Did you delete and re-create the cards in mythtv-setup after the upgrade? The new version of ivtv uses different names for the tuner inputs (which would only affect the PVR500s).

Well, not per se. I did notice problems so I selected the new, correct "Tuner" rather than the previous "Tuner." Perhaps I'll try completely deleting and re-adding, then.

Tentatively, a cursory test seems to indicate that the problem was solved by completeley removing the card and reinstalling it -- software-wise, that is, within mythtv-setup. THANKS.
