The rift between DuBois and Reiser came a day after DuBois told reporters that defending the self-proclaimed genius was "a difficult thing."

Is there any way to make "self-proclaimed genius" not sound sarcastic?

Sarcasm is a sure way to land a conviction. Maybe he wants to be Scott Peterson's bunkie?

I can't wait for the "made for TV" mini-series. No body, a love triangle with the best friend, who turns out to be a serial murderer but "didn't kill this one". No Hollywood writer could come up with this stuff!

Yeah, we'll be queuing up our KM boxes!
The wikipedia write-up looks decent... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Reiser It's a pretty sorted affair!
... especially with the writer's strike going on!

This is certainly an odd case. I was dumbfounded when I learned about the "best friend"... It is just sad all around. I certainly hope the kids are being properly cared for.

Cecil, they are with their grandmother - Nina, the wife's mother, in Russia - except during the trial in which the boy is testafying.

There was some question of whether the boy was going to return for the trial. The fact that the kids were whisked off to Russia will be used by the defense who assert the wife ran back to the old country and hid.

UPDATE:

we kinda missed it..

"Reiser, 44, was convicted April 28 of first-degree murder in the slaying of his wife. Throughout the trial, the computer programmer proclaimed his innocence, and with a sentencing date approaching, Reiser's attorney William Du Bois said that leading authorities to the body could bring some leniency for his client. Reiser's sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but it's likely to be postponed."

Killer Confession - body recovered..
