Post subject:  garbage posts

Hi,
A simple request! Do not respond to the less than desirable posts that may occur by putting in a response that it is spam. it is usually very obvious but rather pm the link to Cecil & Dale. When you post in response to the spam / junk / etc it sets a trap when the responder is a regular poster.

To give a warning to others, I would suggest to make a new thread, maybe with subject of "WARNING" post xx is bad!

Thanks
Mike

Even the "warning" thread is probably superfluous. C&D can generally tell from the title "XXX PORN NOW!!!" or some such. It only takes a few minutes or hours before the posts are found and the account nuked.

Probably right but if someone has already been there might save some unsuppecting nun from getting an undesired surpprise. Or worse, some kid receiving an early education.

Is there any way to disable IMG tags on the forum?

I hope Cecil does go after that last spammer.
While pornography does not bother me particularly one way or the other per say, (whatever floats your boat etc.) but when it jumps out and surprises you in such a graphic way... well, I found it particularly distasteful.
Go after 'em with all you can.

Well, I put a 'spam' reply in a lot of them, on the theory that whoever was administrating at the time, could search on 'spam', and get a list of posts needing nuked.

How does the downside 'trap' work by responding ?

I'll use emails from now on...

I would think it would be good to put a one liner in the thread
that you have indeed im'ed / emailed cecil so that we know not
to send any more im's / emails.

Hi,
Depending on what check boxes you enable, if someone responds to your post, you get an email saying "you have mail". They probably wet themselves laughing when they get mail.

I doubt that Cecil & Dale can monitor the board every second, that would be 2 12 hour shifts around the clock with meals brought in. I am afraid that would interfere with the "day" job that pays for the groceries.

I can't speak for them however, I would rather know10 times over than not to receive at least one heads up.

I don't understand this statement, mjl, please explain.

Hi Dale,

Sorry if I was confusing. When a less than appropriate post is made by person / persons that really doesn't belong in the KM world and someone discovers it the difficult way, if they could grab the post link and send you or Cecil a note with that link then that would be one notification of something amiss. If ten others also did a post so what, at least you know and can address the situation as needed. To sum what I was saying, tell me ten times is ok, but I want to know at least once.

If you don't know something is broke, then it can't get fixed.

Hope that helps :)
Thanks
Mike

Thanks, mjl. That is the best way. send both of us the link. I endeavor to cleanup and check several times a day, but it is always good to get a link as I may miss something.

Hi Dale,

You are welcome. Just hard to understand why it would be so difficult to see one stinky post when there are only 104940 articles ... :)

You guys do awesome at keeping the board tidy :) Thanks!
Mike
