Im looking at ebay here and noticed this

a) does it work ?
b) does this mean I can skip the digital box ?

I'm sure it works, but all it does is clean up the signal and make sure less interference comes in from the lower frequencies. It does not replace a cable box or descramble/decode any content.

It blocks the return path to the cable company so you can order pay-per-view and not get charged by the cable company.

Major issue with it is most cable companies shutoff digital cale boxes if they don't "hear" from them every so often (We allow 4 events ordered before we need to hear from the DCT or we disable it). Now lets say you remove the filter so your cable box can talk back, and be reactivated... yeah all those pay-per-views you ordered get sent in bulk to the cable operator, and you still get charged for them.
