So it's Friday, and you all seem like a friendly and affable bunch, and I'm in kind of a wacky mood.

Let's talk food. Specifically sandwiches. I could go for a sandwich right about now. Some roast beef, some mustard, swiss cheese, boy howdy. Or better yet, how about a cheesesteak.

A good old fashioned Philly cheesesteak. Now that's good eating!

root:/home/kitchen#> apt-get update
root:/home/kitchen#> apt-get install cheesesteak +onion +peppers -mushrooms

What do you recommend in the way of sandwiches? Do your tastes run to the mundane (PB&J), the urbane (prosciutto and mozarella on foccacia), the sublime (watercress tea sandwich), or the absurd (sushi, bologna, and EZ-Cheez)?

THEY CALL ME PASTABAGEL

Either the roast beef (less mustard) or cheesesteak sound appetizing! I don't like sushi falls in the sandwich category.

I lived in Wilmington DE for almost a decade and it's close enough to Philly to be a suburb, so I definitely agree on the cheesesteak.

There was a deli down the street from us, though, that made a killer roast turkey sandwich, mainly because they actually roasted a turkey every day, instead of using pre-packaged deli meat.

When I lived outside of Chicago we'd go to Watertower Place and go to DB Kaplans... sandwich quality is debatable but they certainly had quite a selection.

And just to tie it into MythTV, way back when I was testing my first KnoppMyth setup, I recorded an episode of Nigella Bites on the Food Network, where she sang the praises of Elvis's favorite sandwich, a fried peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich. Mmmmm, peanut butter...

A "cubano" from 2nd St. Cafe in Cambridge is a good bet...

A nice meatball sub, Maria's on 3rd St. in Cambridge make a good one, as do any numer of other places, ...

A good ham and provolone sub... Possibly toasted... Too many places to name...

A pork loin sandwiche from the bar right behind Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids... Just AMAZING ...

A fresh ahi sandwich from any number of places on Oahu... Who knew fish could taste so good!

A pulled pork BBQ from Bayside Bull or a cheese steak from Jake's Steak in Edgewater. Talk about comfort food...

A beef on weck from Schwabl's in West Seneca or maybe Anderson's in Kenmore with plenty of fresh horseradish... Heaven on a salty roll!!! :D

Darn! Now I need a salivating smiley... ;-)

Oddly enough, my tastes have been running towards a meatball sandwich with provolone on a Dutch crunch roll. Mmmmmmm.....

Ok, so maybe not a sandwich per se, but there's this place here in San Francisco on Haight street which has the finest sausages I've ever had in my life (and I was born in germany)
Rose Munde is this little grill right next to the Toranado in lower haight. Wild Boar, Duck with figs, Boudin Blanc, Chicken with cherry, kilbasa, morrocan lamb (merguez) and my personal fave the beer brat. Also, since it's right next to Toronado, you can take your spicy pup next door and have a choice of over 200 fine ales on tap. It's like heaven. seriously, if your in SF check it out.
